Food Processors Certifications

GLOBAL FOOD SAFETY INITIATIVE (GFSI)

Food processors are held to a very high standard.  Walmart sent shockwaves through the industry when they mandated that all their food producers must adhere to the GFSI framework.  The movement toward a repeatable set of best practices across the industry and regulated by independent third parties affects you as a food processor.

More food processing companies are seeking certification to one of the GFSI standards, including:

  • Safe Quality Food- SQF 2000
  • Food Safety System Certification- FSSC 22000/ISO 22000
  • British Retail Consortium- BRC
  • International Food Standard- IFS
  • Dutch Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points- Dutch HACCP

Customer demands, coupled with a strong desired to enhance overall food safety and quality, are the primary reasons for seeking GFSI certification.

Each standard has similar requirements for prerequisite food safety programs and a HACCP-based food safety system at their core.  Some certifications include an equally strong emphasis on quality management systems.

MANTEC has the resources to give you unbiased guidance and implementation assistance in these certifications.

A "gap analysis" of your current prerequisite and food safety programs, facilities and processes, and practices will be performed against your chosen GFSI standard.  The gap analysis provides for focused and prioritized implementation efforts.

The next step is to develop appropriate written programs and procedures to fill the gaps and develop a comprehensive Food Safety & Quality Management System.  Employee training is also available.

Already certified?  We can help you prepare for your recertification.
